Strategy:

Based on a Cryptocurrency index which invests in the largest virtual currencies by market capitalization and liquidity; Cryptofund AG could be Europe’s first ever diversified fund. The diversification of the fund would lead to lower levels of volatility while still reaping the high growth benefits of cryptocurrency. Conceiving the fund in Zug, Switzerland will give the fund the advantage over regulation laws for Zug, Switzerland has a strong foundation for the stable regulation of digital currencies. The structure of the fund would follow the Swiss Collective Investment Schemes Act (CISA). In this structure, the asset manager, the fund management company and the custodian bank are legally separate from each other. Aside from this, Crypto AG fund will not be listed on an exchange and will “exclusively target qualified investors.

Jan Brzezek

Mr. Brzezek, received a BA in banking and finance from Zurich University of Applied Sciences. He then worked as a derivatives expert in exchange regulation at the SIX Swiss Exchange and then for several years, he worked in derivatives and fixed income sales and trading for UBS in Zurich, Singapore, and Hong Kong. He encountered and saw blockchain and cryptocurrencies’ potential when he was assigned as business manager for the president of UBS Asset Management & for the regional president of UBS Group for EMEA. He also had several other roles such as the global innovation expert for UBS and worked on the impact of new technologies on the UBS business model and was responsible for the smart structured product proof-of-concept.

Dr. Tobias Reichmuth, Chairman, and Co-founder

Dr. Tobias completed an Executive Program at Singularity University, after which he took up and finished his Masters Degree in International Management and Master of Science in Business administration from the University of St. Gallen, finally Dr. Tobias finished his PhD at the European Business School; his educational background gave him a deeper understanding of blockchain and cryptocurrency developments. Dr. Tobias then became a strategy consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. Recently up until now, with his knowledge and educational background, Dr. Tobias built up SUSI Partners AG as a leading financing partner for sustainable infrastructure projects globally. Aside from this, Dr. Tobias is also the director of Sustainable Sarl and a founding shareholder of Lykke, a Swiss-based cryptocurrency exchange.

Marc P. Bernegger, Member of the Board

Mark P. Berneger

Mr. Bernegger is a web entrepreneur he co-founded the party-platform usgang.ch and sold it later to Axel Spring Media. He was also a co-founder of a ticketing-platform called Amiando which was later on bought by Xing and has been awarded as a “Global Technology Pioneer” by WEF. Most importantly, Mr. Bernegger is a fintech investor. He is on the advisory board of FinLeap, a partner at Next Generation Invest, co-founder of Finance 2.0 and he is a board member of Falcon Private Bank and Greater Zurich Area. When he bought his first bitcoin back in 2012 he was fascinated by the potential this new asset class has.

Raymond J. Baer, Member of the Board

Raymond Baer

Mr. Baer has a law degree which he obtained from the University of St. Gallen and a Master’s degree in law from Colombia Law School. Mr. Baer is a former President of the Board of Directors of Julius Baer Group AG. Aside from this, he was also a Director of Private Banking and a member of the Management Committee. He was also employed in various notable organizations such as the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA), the Association of Swiss Asset and Wealth Management Banks and the Regulatory Board of the SIX Swiss Exchange. With his experience and knowledge, Mr. Baer provides strategic planning to the fund.

Pascal Forester, Member of the Board

Mr. Pascal obtained a degree in Social Science and an M.B.A from University of St. Gallen, aside from that he also completed the Consulting and Coaching for Change program at the INSEAD Global Leadership Centre. With his educational background, Mr. Pascal is an experienced recruiter of CEOs, board members and senior executives for leading corporations and organizations; he’s done this for more than 20 years. Mr. Pascal does not stop there for he also co-founded a number of commercial and non-profit organizations, most notably World.Minds in Zurich, XU Exponential University in Berlin, and the Entrepreneur’s Roundtable. Mr. Pascal is also a member of the Investment Committee of Vita Sammelstiftung, one of the largest Swiss institutional investors with managed assets in the amount of CHF 11 billion. Mr. Pascal is also an active investor on a number of startups in the blockchain, retail and education sectors.

Mr. Maurer has a degree in Business and Economic History from the University of Zurich. With his educational background, Mr. Maurer offers his specialty in the areas of business and information technology, process implementation and organizational structure. Mr. Maurer’s experience stems from his former project of building a fund administration for Cofis Treuhand AG and as Vice President and IT project leader in the Asset Management division of Credit Suisse. He was also Head fund accounting at Swisscanto Asset Management AG and served as COO, Deputy CEO and member of the Management Committee of RBR Capital Advisors AG.

Nicolas Huber, Business development

A classmate of Mr. Brzezek, Mr. Huber studied Business Administration with a focus in Banking & Finance and received his BA from Zurich University of Applied Sciences. He used his educational background to have himself be employed and gain experience in the Union Bancaire Privée (UBP) in Singapore as a relationship manager. He was also employed by HNWI Family offices as an External Asset Manager. With his employment in the two aforementioned establishments, Mr. Huber noticed the changing requirements that are being requested by clients in the global environment. With that problem being noticed, Mr. Huber saw the potential of cryptocurrency’s ability to remedy the problem. And so he started investing on cryptocurrency and finally joined Cryptofund AG’s team to offer his knowledge in private banking as well as asset management.
